I WON THE COPYRIGHT CLAIM!

To my "And He Gets The Girl" music video! A few weeks ago my video got taken off of YouTube due to copyright claims by the Warner Music Group. Yesterday, I filed a claim that it was protected by the fair use clause of 1976 and I won! It's back on YouTube for all to see again!


I fought the YouTube law and I won!

YouTube + And He Gets The Girl + My Video = Almost off YouTube!?

I think it's inevitable. My "And He Gets The Girl" music video might be taken off of YouTube soon. Almost all the other videos have been taken off except for two and the newer ones. Now I'm on the top of the list with the most views. Eek! But I think I know why mine is still on YouTube. When the copyright owners look for things with their music they only listen for the first ten or twenty seconds. I don't think the music comes in until thirty seconds in (UPDATE: it starts at 0:44). I have my opening title and the opening sequence.

Best Music Video @ The 3rd Annual Santa Monica Teen Film Festival!

Yes! Finally some recognition! I won "Best Music Video" at the 3rd Annual Santa Monica Teen Film Festival. Whoopi and I should have snagged at least one award last year for Whoopi vs. SilentBat but hey, what are you going to do? The audience choice awards was super biased and the judges just didn't think it deserved anything. Anywho, I competed, at first, with seventy other films which got weeded down to twenty films, nine of them, including mine, being music video. And of the other eight music videos I won first place for Antoine Bandele's And He Gets The Girl. I almost thought I lost it to another video called Remeberance though because last year, I believe, some of the videos won just because they had a sap story and this one was a sad story and was really good on top of that. Everytime a music video came up I would think to myself "I hope this one is bad and if it is good I hope I could be proud to lose to it." I felt that way with Remeberance. I would legitamely say I would have been proud to lose to it if I did ... but good thing I didn't! Yay!

So what did I get? Well as you can see above and below I got a trophy and with it I got four movie tickets to a Landmark Theater (I already know where I'm going to use the tickets for and for whom. I owe someone and I think I'll take her friends too) :). Along with the trophy and tickets I got a Best Buy gift certificate worth $200. So pretty much, that means I'm getting a new external harddrive that's firewire-ready. I was thinking about the one you see to your right. It's the Iomega - Minimax 500 GB. But that's just from a first look, I may by a drive from a name brand I'm more familiar with!

Well anyway that's it! Tomorrow is my CSI Editing visit :-D!

Lack of Camera is Hurting my Blogging

Here is a photo from senior picnic:

My lack of post, or post about me, is because I have no camera. And I haven't made videoblogs in forever because my computer cannot capture footage. But videoblogs should return sometime next month when I get my graduation present: a MacBook Pro :). I even think the first moment I get it and I figure out how to make videos on it through PhotoBooth I'll post v videoblog #32 or #33, whichever one it is. And I'll try and make videoblogs as much as I can instead of splitting it in two weeks so I can catch up.

Back to CSI and a Lupe Plug!

With all the excitement from yesterday, oh with the updated on "The List" which is being well-received by the students over at Hamilton Senior High, the announcement of my new music video: "Antoine Bandele's And He Gets The Girl," as well as the promotional photos for said event, Whoopi vs. SilentBat II Debut Tickets, Grapes of Wrath Opening Titles, Mita Productions 2008 opening titles, Bleyer Productions 2008 opening titles, Anus Kings on DeBunk Punk, Paris, Toyko music video and finishing the outline for the "Specters" music video as well as my Inner City Filmmakers Application, I failed to mention the exciting news my video teacher called me about!

If you guys will remember, I took a field trip to see the folks over at CSI shoot an episode with five other students. My teacher called me yesterday and told me that they'd like A.J. Bleyer and me to come back! The one who referred us most was the apprentice editor there whom seemed very enthusiastic about our excitement! I'm not exactly sure what they want with us when we get there or what will be doing but I (I was too excited and didn't listen to details when my teacher told me) but I assume it has something to do with editing. I really hope they teach us the basics of Avid! I would love to already know how to edit with it before I go to Inner City Filmmakers!

In other news! I've got a plug on the Lup-End blog! The blog looks legit and I think it gets a lot of hits. In any case this makes me very excited and a bit more nervous because now I'll have to really push out 110% of my best stuff. I'm done with the core editing of the video now it's just a matter of putting on titles and color correcting. I have a good grasp on what's going to happen with the titles but I've never color corrected before. In any case, it's looking pretty good. Whoopi really likes it so far and that's more than enough for me! Thank you Sean from the Lup-End blog for the plug! Greatly appreciated!

Antoine Bandele's And He Gets The Girl Coming Soon

Everything is shot and captured and I've got a full rough cut of it! Now all I need to do is go back and tweak it, color grade it and put in the few special effects in it. All and all I'm proud of what I got but there are parts in the video where I'm like, "Argh! Why did I do that!"
